Easy Homemade Ice Cream Without a Machine

Not wanting our blog to look like a recipe site for housewives, but I have always thought that to make ice-cream at home, you needed some sort of ice-cream making machine or gadget. I found out recently that it is actually really simple and the most exotic tool needed is a whisk or a hand-beater to whip the cream. This recipe makes a ‘chocolate-y cookies & cream’ ice cream but feel free to substitute ingredients to make your own flavours.

You will need:

BASIC INGREDIENTS

500ml Pure Cream

1 small can Sweetened Condensed Milk

FLAVOUR (SUBSTITUTE WITH YOUR OWN FLAVOURS)

Half a Block of Dark Cooking Chocolate

Third of a Packet of Chocolate Cookies

Method:

Whip the cream until thickened and peaks form. In a metal or ceramic bowl melt the chocolate over a pot of boiling water. Add the sweetened condensed milk and melted chocolate to the whipped cream and gently fold through. Crush the biscuits and fold into the mixture. Pour into a plastic container and put in freezer until frozen.

  • Mango (or any fruit)
  • Honey
  • Coffee
  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate chunks
  • Coconut cream and dessicated coconut (substitute some of the cream for coconut cream)
  • Nuts
  • Green Tea
  • Vanilla essence
  • Mashed bananas
  • Golden or Maple Syrup
